Do join us for our service at 10am on Sunday 11th September to celebrate Harvest at Emmanuel Church, followed by a bring and share Harvest Lunch together. Everybody welcome!
Our regular groups will be taking a break over the summer. Toddlers normally meets every Tuesday during term time from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, but Tuesday 12th July will be the last one before the summer holidays (starting again on Tuesday 6th September). Messy Church is on Monday 4th July, but then next meets on Monday 5th September. Craft and Chat is on Thursday 14th and Thursday 28th July, then meets again from Thursday 8th September.
We would love you to come and join in when we meet!
For more information about these groups, please see the pages on this website.
Please join us on Good Friday (15 April) for a reflective service at 10.00am and on Easter Sunday (17 April) for our Easter service at 10.00am.
In the run-up to Easter, we’re also holding a few events at Emmanuel: a Quiz Night on Friday 8th April from 7pm with a fish and chip supper; a Messy Church Easter special at 4pm on Monday 4th April; and an afterschool movie and pizza get-together on Tuesday 5th April from 3.30pm.
We hope you are enjoying the run-up to Christmas and feeling excited about celebrating together with friends and family too! We would love you to join us for our Christmas services on the theme of The Christmas Promise:
Carols by Candlelight – Sunday 19th December at 6.30pm, ‘God’s Promised Presence’. A Christmas service of readings and carols.
Christmas Day Service with Lord’s Supper – Saturday 25th December at 10am, ‘Born to be Mild?’ A family service celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Please note that there will be no morning service on 19th December (just the evening Carol Service) and also that there will be no services on Sunday 26th December.
On Sunday 2nd January, there will be a morning service at 10am (at Emmanuel, held jointly with Grace Church), but no evening service.
We will return to our regular pattern of services on 9th January, with the morning service at 10am (starting a new sermon series back in Luke) and the evening service at 6.30pm.
Our regular service time for Sunday morning services at Emmanuel has now changed to 10.00am.
We’re planning a Garden Party in the Emmanuel Church grounds on Saturday 28th August from 3 p.m. till 6 p.m. – please come and join us!
There will be a barbecue, tea, coffee, homemade cakes and soft drinks (no entry charge, but donations towards the cost of food and drinks are welcome). Bring a picnic rug and your own drinks if you prefer. We’ll have games and face painting for the children too.
We can’t wait to be together to celebrate summer with our wonderful community of Newbridge and Lower Weston!
During the summer holidays, we will meet together at Emmanuel Church for a combined morning service with our friends from Grace Church Bath at 10.30 a.m. (not 9.30 a.m.) on Sundays from 25th July to 29th August inclusive. These will be all-age family services exploring the parables in Luke’s Gospel and will be led and preached by a combination of Emmanuel Church and Grace Church leaders.
There will continue to be a short reflective sevice in the evening at 6.30 p.m. too.
Fellowship groups and prayer meetings will not be held over the summer, so after the prayer meeting on 21st July, we will get together again next on 1st September for fellowship groups.
From 14th March, we are running our Sunday services in the Emmanuel Church building again, taking care to adhere to all the government legislation and guidelines to ensure we are doing this in a Covid-compliant way. Please come along and join us at 9.30 am or 6.30 pm. We look forward to welcoming you!
At Easter, we are planning these services:
Good Friday service of readings & reflection – 2nd April at 10 am
Easter Day Service with Lord’s Supper – 4th April at 9.30 am
Please join us for this year’s Lent course “Seeing the Saviour”. Each week we will be showing a short video reflection on a great painting and the Gospel accounts of the final days of Jesus’s life. A member of the church family will share their thoughts on how these great masterpieces help us to engage with scripture, which we hope will inspire you as we journey through Lent together. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXX16BoV4wOzXIowbaCLiQw
We would love you to join us for our Christmas services. In view of the continuing Covid-19 restrictions, we will need to put a limit on the total number of people coming along to these this year. To ensure that there is a space/spaces reserved for you, please send us an E-mail (or call and speak to us), with the number and names of people in your household who will be attending, so that we can confirm your places and add you to the list on the door for these services:
Bereavement Service – 12th December at 3pm, a special service of remembrance & thanksgiving for loved ones who we miss especially at this time of year (at Emmanuel Church)
‘Chaos round the Crib’ – 18th December at 5pm, an informal, family-oriented service with younger children in mind (at St John’s Church, Augusta Place, Upper Bristol Road BA1 3DD)
Carol Service – 20th December at 6.30pm, a Christmas service of readings and carols (at Emmanuel Church)
Christmas Day Service – 25th December at 9.30am, a family service celebrating the birth of Jesus (at Emmanuel Church).
We will also be holding Sunday services at the usual times on 6th and 13th December. Please note, however, that there will be no morning service on 20th December (just the evening Carol Service). Also that on 27th December, there will only be a morning service, but it will start at the later time of 10.30am.
